You know...I am just a worry wart! Every once in awhile I get a good reminder not to worry. Today it was on a coffee cup of mine that I haven't used in awhile that has been shoved in the back of the cabinet. Here is what it said:
Worrying: does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles...it empties Today of its Strength!
That is so true! I worry about things and let it take away my joy and strength for the day.
I also want to share this scripture for me and all my fellow worry warts!
Matthew 6:25-34
THerefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Soloman in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how GOd clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear?. For the pagans run after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. But SEEK first His kingdom and HIs righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. THerefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. EACH day has enough trouble of its own!

ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite scriptures and one that spoke to me in my early days of being a Believer. Silly story ~ picture day of FCC and I did not know what to where, standing in my closet asking the Lord what in the world we should wear knowing we didn't have $ to go purchase outfits for the picture and this scripture came to me and within 30 min I had our outfits picked out.....That is just a simple and sweet example of the Lord showing me how HE cares.
There have been much deeper issues since those early days that this scripture has given me much peace and reminded me NOT to worry. I am not a big worry wart but I must say when I am its about my kids or my families salvation.
