Thanksgiving

Our family has always gathered together on Holidays. I am very thankful for the traditions my family has established. I have a big family...lots of cousins. We all live pretty close so there is always about 40 to 50 of us that gather at all holidays. I love it! My grandparents passed away recently and that has changed a few things, they always kept us together. We are the type of family, that if you don't have a place to go...you are always welcomed at the Stout's house. We have tons of food! Remember...we are a family who likes to eat...not shy on the eating part at all! Here are a few pics of our day, we have it at my moms...we set it up in the garage and kitchen so we have plenty of room!
This is the kids table...yep...still sitting at the kids table...I'm ok with that!

Here is the adults..can't you tell..the one on the right is my brother in law Greg...with his mouth full of food...so mature!

This is my mom and her famous Stuffing...it is fabulous!! I lOvE it people!! I need to get her recipe figured out...but she is a little bit of this and a little bit of that kinda gal...so it's hard!

This is my cousin Lori that I have asked you to pray for...and her daughter Lacy

Matt and I...:)

My niece Danielle and my daughter Brooke...silly girls!!

My niece Mckenzie and my cousins wife Amber...

There are lots more pics, but I think I will just spare you of all of them! LOL! Anyway...I am so thankful for my family. We are not a perfect family...Heck no! But when it comes down to it you can always depend on your family to love you and be there for you. I have an amazing husband who loves me...supports me...listens to me...and loves me. He is my best friend and there is no one I would rather spend my time with than Matt and our kids! But the best thing about him..besides being so cute...:) he loves the Lord with all his heart and seeks Him daily. Counting my blessings girls!!! Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross so that I could receive eternal life! Most Thankful for that!

1 Chronicles 16:8

"Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done."

Don't even need to make a comment...so much wrapped up in that verse!!

Blessings...

Elf

So the tree is up....now we kick off the season watching our favorite movie...ELF!! I Iove that movie! It makes me laugh so hard! And here is a cool thing...when my dad has his liver transplant we were sitting in the waiting room the day after...exhausted...emotionally drained...and this sweet family came around singing songs and handing out goodies. The 3 daughters (adults) were wearing Elf costumes. The interesting thing is...the costumes were ones that they wore in the movie Elf!!! They were so cool! Where was my camera??? Ok...not thinking at that point.
Anyway...we love to watch this movie. It is fun to laugh as a family!!!

Have a great one!

Cannot Be Shaken....

Hebrews 12:28

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,"

That was my Facebook scripture for the day...something to be thankful for...our God can't be shaken!! Worshiping God with reverence and awe...Amen!

This week...

I just love this week every year. Tonight we kick off the week with our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner @ church...it's not your traditional night. They guys gather fun stuff about each other all year and have a good time making fun of each other and make us all laugh. It is a fun night and people get a glimpse into the life as a staff person at FCC in a way they never thought!

Another thing I love is the kids only have 2 days of school this week...which means I get time off also since I sub. By Wednesday my sister and her family will be here and I usually cook dinner on Wed. night so my mom's kitchen stays clean for Thursday! Which we only live 2 doors down from her...yep...nice! (most of the time..LOL...just kidding mom!! We love you!!)

On Thursday we will all go to my moms and stuff our face! My mom makes the best ever stuffing!! I could just have that and be happy!! I really do love Thanksgiving. Why? Because you just get together and have fun, visit and there is no pressure of giving gifts...just eating and being thankful for what God has blessed us with.

Thursday night we always go see a movie as a family. It's a nice way to end our day.

Then on Friday my nieces and I get early and go shopping and then have breakfast at Panera. We have done this for years and I look forward to it so much now! I have the best nieces ever...on both sides of our family. My sister's girls are getting older now and it is fun to watch them shop. They are 21 and 17! WOW!! We aren't serious about it, just enjoy the fun of it.

Friday afternoon we drag out all the Christmas Decorations and begin the process of hanging it all up! I love having the lights and decorations up. It feels so warm in the house.

Sat...well that is bedlam day....OSU vs. OU. So we sit down and enjoy leftovers and some football. GO POKES!!! So that is our week. I just love it. I love my family. I will show you picks of our day!

How about you? What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving? Any traditions you enjoy?

It's Cool...

as in cold...to have a fridge with water and ice in the door!! For 16 1/2 years Matt and I have had this fridge...and we were very thankful for it! Matt's mom and step dad got it for a wedding present!

Over the last year the ice machine quit working...or sometimes it would work on it's own...:) So we were cracking ice trays! Which I know in the big picture...yeah yeah...poor us! But I have always always wanted a fridge that had the ice and water in the door! There have been a few times I almost had Matt talked into one, but we try not to spend what we don't have! I felt God saying...not now...not yet...I have plans for you if you just be patient!! And...ours was working just fine so there really wasn't a reason to buy one! We try to be good stewards of our money and buying a new one when the old one was fine...well that's just not the way it works! What's funny is when my kids friends come over they ask...how do we get ice?? Or how do we get water? I guess they have never seen a fridge that doesn't have water and ice in the door! It always cracks me up when they ask me that!!!

Anyway, last week they moved Matt's grandma into a nursing home and they wondered if there was anything we wanted from the house. I said...how about the fridge? And they said YES!! So we packed up and went there last Sat. and came home with a trailer load! And ta daaa.....here is our new fridge! People...this fridge is like brand new!! It's amazing!! We are all so excited to get ice and water out of the door! It's so funny! It's so big inside! My kids love opening it up!

The best part...:)

God always surprises me with blessings. One thing Matt and I have learned over the years of our marriage is to tithe. Jesus talks about money more than anything in the bible. He knew it would be a struggle for us. He knew that we would love it and love the things that it could get us. I challenge any of you who are struggling with your finances to start tithing. I promise you will see the blessings...not only in your finances, but in your life. Being obedient with your finances is so important in your walk with Christ. Matt and I received some news about our finances this week that could only happen because of God. We didn't deserve it and we know that it was a blessing from God. We give Him the GLory!!

Just like the fridge...we didn't' earn it or deserve it...it was a gift. We are sooo thankful for!!! We appreciate the generosity of our family. We can't earn God's love...it's a gift...we just have to receive it and watch the blessings flow from Him.

Happy Birthday Joyce!

Today is Matt's moms bday! God has truly blessed me with an amazing mother in law...(2 actually). From the beginning Joyce has always been so welcoming to me. She is one of the sweetest people I know and makes everyone feel so loved. She is a great example of a mother's love. She welcomed this sassy red head right into her family to marry he little boy. I think (and pray) about the day Jaden brings home his bride to be...I hope I am as friendly as Joyce was to me. She is so talented in making cakes! She made my wedding cake and that was a huge one! Every birthday she brings us a cake for our bdays and it is the BEST cake ever!!! She is a baker like me...but she is waaaay ahead of me on that! When I decorate a cake it looks like a 2 year old did it!! She treats us all the same and makes each of my kids feel so special. When we are there she and Paul...Matt's stepdad...play with our kids and spend time with them one on one. They let them destroy their house and just make them feel they are at their "Grandparents". My kids love going to Grandpa and Grandma Zs house. She goes the extra mile and does the little things that the kids love. They live in Stillwater so we don't get to see them as often as we like, but when we do...it is a very special time for us. SO Happy Birthday Joyce!!! THank you for being such a great Mom in law, grandma and mom!! We are soo blessed to have you in our lives!!
We love you!!

Meet Fatih and Summer...The Newest Thomasons!

Well the last few weeks have been busy! They are like having newborns around! LOL! Ok...maybe not because I can put them outside and let them sleep at night and not wake me up! But here is the story on each of them...
First...this is Faith..

She is one of Maggie's puppies! We were not going to keep one of her puppies until we had to put Maggie asleep and then everything changed. Since that day...I have just loved this little puppy to pieces. It has made losing Maggie a little easier on our kids. The kids came up with the name because we have "Faith" that God will take care of us in the good times and the bad and she is a reminder of just how much God loves us. Faith acts so much like Maggie. She loves people, she loves to lay on your lap and love on you. She loves her belly rubbed. She sits on your feet! She is full of life!!! If you notice her little eye...one of the other puppies before we sold them...scratched her eye. For about a week we were not sure if she would be blind it had gotten so bad and infected...but Praise God she is on the road to recovery thanks for Dr. Kristina!! She is so smart and can already sit and is doing well on the potty training.

Second...meet Summer...

Isn't she pretty? First I have to tell the story about Mrs. Vicki Summers..Vicki was a lady in our church that raised dogs. My daughter Lauren adored Vicki and wanted to be just like her! Get to play with puppies all day! They shared a passion for dogs like no other. Vicki passed away about 2 years ago this Thanksgiving from cancer (hate the c word). She was an incredible woman of God. Homeschooled her kids as long as she could, raised 4 Godly children who all love and serve the Lord in their lives. I admired her as a mom and a Christian. She was a spunky..tell you how it is woman!! Loved that! It was a very sad day for Lauren when she heard about Vicki. A couple of months after she died, Tom...her husband brought Lauren a dog sweater vest that Vicki wanted Lauren to have. She felt so blessed to have it.

Now onto how we got Summer... Matt talked to Mr. Tom...after hearing about us losing Maggie and how we wouldn't be able to breed anymore...he decided to give Lauren one of Vicki's puppies. Matt and I were a little worried about having 3 dogs because we didn't plan on keeping a puppy....or getting another one...but you know...when those kids look at you and give you those literal "puppy eyes" it is hard to say No. So a couple of weeks ago we went to Mr. Toms and got Summer. We named her Summer after Vicki Summer. She had been in a pen for 4 months and really wasn't used to being around so many people...especially all 5 of us dog lovers!! So it took her a few days to warm up to us, but she is so beautiful and so sweet! I know she will be a great dog. Now...one thing about this puppy is she has a Championship bloodline. WOW! You can tell that by her black eyes and nose...did you know that about Labs? Anyway...it really doesn't matter to me so much...We just love her!! So now we can one day breed her and Lauren can continue the dream of having puppies around! We don't want to breed Faith after all the trouble Maggie had. Thanks Mr. Tom...you are so sweet and we love you so much for doing this for our family.

This is Tom and the kids with Summer when we went out there:

Here are both of the puppies together...notice how white Summer is! COOL!

This is Faith..she loves to have her belly rubbed and she will just lay in your arms like a baby!! So Sweet!!! I want her to stay little!!!

So this has kept me very busy...medicine in Faith's eye...potty training and loving on them...I just love to hold them. It brings me joy! An our Lab Mazi, had her heart worm treatment so she is in the house for a month because she can't run until then. So it's just dogs...dogs and more dogs! Our kids are in heaven...oh the joys of being a mom!!
Blessings,

Caring Bridge for Lori

If you have a family member with a serious condition or has to be hospitalized for a long amount of time...I recommend you start a Caring Bridge Page for them. While my dad was in the hospital for his Liver Transplant, we had one and it was so good for us. You can update about them and people can write encouraging notes to them on there also. You can post pictures and your guest can sign up to receive notices when the Caring Bridge site is updated. It was so great for our family because after awhile...you get worn out with all the questions and you really feel bad but you just want to say...I can't handle answering any more questions today!! This site allows people to keep updated so you can focus on the health of your family member. I love it and it is free. SO go here and let my cousin Lori know you are praying for you. You might tell her that you know me so she won't wonder who in the world you are! LOL!! Go here to see her site.

And we are also passing out blue yarn bracelets at church and everywhere for people to wear to remember to pray for Lori. She really needs our prayers! Pray for her kids, Lacy, Jacob and Austin also. Thanks so much for doing this. You are all so precious to me!!
loveya

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Ok...I have been sooo busy the last two weeks! We have a few new family members...which I will blog about later...that have kept me busy! And we were out of town last week also. Anyway...I have been asked by a few of you to post more recipes! So this is for you gals! I think I will try to post one a week. I love to eat...so therefore...I love to cook. Really, it's a hobby! Honestly...I come from a long line of cooks. And we all love to eat as you can tell by our waist lines! LOL!! This recipe is for my small group gals. I made this for our small group on Sunday and they asked me for the recipe. My kids love it!

Broccoli Cheese Soup
4 cups milk
1 stick butter
1/2 cup flour
1 1/2-2 pounds Velveeta ( I just use the big block)
2 bunches of fresh broccoli steamed, tops only

Melt butter in a dutch oven (I call it a big soup pot) Add flour a little at a time-to make a paste. (You might need to add a little more flour if it isn't very thick, I have found if you use real butter you need a little more flour) Mix Well. Add milk, boil, stirring constantly. When milk reaches the desired thickness add cubed velveeta. When the cheese is melted add the broccoli. Heat thru and you may need to add a little more milk before serving. It is super yummy! I like it with Baked potatoes also!!

Enjoy!

My mom....29 years in Service

My mom has worked at First Bank of Owasso for 29 years. I am just so proud of her! They opened a New facility today. I have to say...it is just beautiful inside and out. It's the tallest building in Owasso! 5 Stories! My mom started working there when I was 8 years old...the same age as my son Jaden is now...that is crazy! Let me just tell you a little bit about my mom... she grew up with an alcoholic father who was abusive to my grandma, but my grandma was an amazing mom to her, but was stuck in a situation she didn't know how to get out of and back then, it wasn't talked about at all. They were dirt poor and my mom spent many days with her Grandma because of the situation at home. When my mom was 16 she meet my dad @ a skating rink...within a year she was married with a baby @ 17 years of age moved 100 miles away from home and still managed to graduate from High School in the middle of all that! My parents have been married almost 41 years. So impressive considering their start.
My mom took this job at the bank way back when and has managed to stay there thru many changes. She doesn't have a college degree...just a good work ethic and knows how to help people out. She goes above and beyond to help people. And she is so smart...I often wonder if she would have had the same opportunities I have been given...where she might be. Today during the dedication our Mayor mentioned my mom in his speech...she was so humbled and couldn't believe he said such nice things about her. As we toured the building today....a common thing keep happening...I keep hearing "Hi Pam...and then people would give her a hug (she is a hugger like me) and thanked her for taking such great care of them and they all would say..."You know you're in good hands with Pam". I just watched her...with so much pride in my heart that she is my mom.
My sister and I got her some flowers...she is so pretty!

This is the Eagle in the Lobby with Isaiah 40:31 on it...cool!

The beautiful fountain out front

Wow...what a building!

It was Veterans Day...

The Banks Core Values...Integrity...Caring...Excellence...

Just so proud of my mom! I love you!! She is an Amazing, Godly woman!

A Mummy, Baby and A Hobo

Happy Halloween! I almost forgot to post our Halloween night pics! EEK!! We have a little route of going to the our neighbors houses...which is my parents, my aunt and uncle and several people who have lived in this neighborhood for quite awhile. We don't have many trick or treaters in this neighborhood so my kids get the royal treatment.
Lauren was a Hobo this year. Simple...like her! We went to Goodwill and found some $6 jeans we could rip up and the rest was borrowed from Nana and Papa and her dad! I am so thankful she still wants to dress up...I will be sad when she decides not too...

Brooke was a baby...this was a last minute change...which she ended up loving! She wanted to be a cowgirl at first...but we couldn't find any boots at Goodwill and I wasn't going to spend much on them for just one night! So we started looking at Target and we saw the footed PJs. Well...Brooke loves hers and I said...I will buy you a binky...that was all I needed to say...BINKY! That girl loved her binky when she was little so getting a chance to wear her pjs and suck on a binky...WOW! What a cheap costume! A $4 binky with a holder on it! Love it!

Matt carrying his baby girl...love this one: Too bad they grow up too fast!

Happy Halloween! I almost forgot to post our Halloween night pics! EEK!!
Now Jaden...had a little trouble deciding what to be...wanted to be an AirForce pilot. But I couldn't find one in his size! He really wants to join the Air Force when he grows up...Lord Help me!! But I totally support him if that is what God calls him too do. So we looked on the internet and found this mummy costume. All you needed was a white sheet and dye it with Tea. So I bought a $9 sheet, dyed it and then ripped it up in stripes! I used a pair of his sweats and sweatshirt...hot glued it them on and there you have it! A mummy! Now one thing you should know is...Jaden is my picky one...if something doesn't fit right...or feels weird...he get's upset! So we had to have a few talks about how a mummy is messy! And the funny thing is...he got so many complements from people! I was like...uh huh! So for less than $20...I got all 3 of them in a Halloween costume! Thank you Jesus!!!

One of our stops each year is Rusty and Linda Cramer! They always give my kids giant size candy bars! About 5 of them for each of them! They love going there!

Mrs. Shirley Eslinger...she is so fun!

This is my Uncle Don and Aunt Shirlene

Here is Nana and Papa!

Christy and Dave...Dave spoils my kids! He bought them bat poop, eye balls and popcorn balls! My kids love them!

We went to the Tuckers and had some chili and trick or treated with them for awhile...

Here is our glowing pumpkins!!

Now...this is our stash!! Can you believe this candy! This is ridiculous! Really! Here is what I do with it...I bag it up and freeze the chocolate and when we go on a trip or to the movies...I take it back out and use it!

And to end this...here is Matt and I's costume...yes...it reads "This Button is My Costume"...we are to cheap to buy anything...so this will probably be our forever costume!!

So that was Halloween at the Thomasons! Finally!!

Lunch with Francis Chan

Let me start with this point of our trip....lunch with Francis! When I read his book, Crazy Love, this spring/summer..(ok...so I am a slow reader!) I actually read it twice...which for me is like un heard of!! It was exactly what I had been struggling with...love...loving God and loving others. I had a pretty negative attitude toward loving others unconditionally. So I was really looking forward to meeting Francis and listening to his testimony. Let me tell you...it was a lesson in humility. He tells us that he gives all the proceeds from the book to charity. He told us...now he is talking to ministers/leaders of churches and there is only about 25 of us...so I think he is a little more comfortable than in a typical crowd...that just this last week he got a check for over $300,000 and about how fun it was to write checks to charities and people in need. He said he and his wife never dreamed the book would be so popular. He said they joked about how cool it would be to be one of those people who could just write checks to people in need...and God said...ok..I will let you do just that thru this book! I think he will soon give away close to 1 million dollars...WOW!! And to top it off...he no longer takes a salary from his church. He only gets what he receives from speaking. He is a pastor and loves his church. I was just so humbled by his love for the kingdom and truly following God in a radical way. He said people told him he was dumb and that he should save the money for an emergency...his response...millions of orphans are not considered an emergency...people dying of aides isn't an emergency...people not knowing the gospel isn't an emergency? If those aren't emergencies...I don't know what an emergency is? Matt and I had a chance to speak with him and he is just a down to earth real guy. I spoke with his wife for awhile, a completely humble woman of God. Someone I would love to spend more time learning from. He had a lot to teach us about loving the church and how Jesus established it and His love for it. I will post more about that later. But lunch was a great experience for us. I felt so blessed to be there, filled my heart up!

Are you a Trader?

This was the theme @ the conference...let me explain. Someone who is willing to TRADE in the pursuit of the American Dream for a world that desperately needs Christ. Being a Trader means being intentional with your time, your money and your passions. A Trader is a new kind of missionary-not defined by geography- but marked by a willingness to apply the Parable of the Good Samaritan and "go and do likewise".
For me, that is a challenge that has been laid upon me. They had testimony after testimony of how people gave up something and gave it to God. Example...one lady left her teaching job here to go to Africa to teach, another man gave up his time to coach a Special Olympics team, one man started a church in a park for homeless people. It goes on and on. These people amaze me. I admire them. I am praying to be "A Trader". You know what's sad...I just need to walk across the street...that is so simple.

I have so much to share about the conference. It was so good for us...our walk with Christ, our ministry for Him, our marriage, our faith and our future in Him. Thank you Lord for your Love for me...I am so blessed.

Dallas...Hotel...No kids!!!

Yeah! Matt and I leave today for Dallas. I am so excited! We are in need of some time alone! We have always gotten away once a year alone just to refresh our marriage. It can be a simple few days or even a cruise! Ahh...cruise...if you haven't taken a cruise alone with with your hubby...Do it! We took one on our 10 year anniversary and went again on our 15 year anniversary! LOVE IT!! We have made a pack to go every 5 years for the rest of our lives if the Lord blesses us to do so! (oh please I hope so...:) Which that is the last time we have gotten away...April 2008! Yes...haven't stayed in a hotel alone since then! WHAT?? That is just waaay to long for us! It has been a tough year for us...transitioning out of the youth and a lot of other changes that have took it's toll on us. It has definately been a journey for me...I have had a pretty negative attitude, depressed, confused and felt lost over the year at church and as a wife. But this summer I started digging my way out of that pit and realized God has an amazing plan for me and I could feel sorry for myself and miss out on the blessings He had for me or start being used by Him again and bless others! I started to open myself up again to others...it was freeing.

Anyway, I think this conference will be a time of growing for Matt and I. A time for us to look back over the year and see what God has done and to take a look at the future with excitement together as a couple and know that God is going to continue to use us as a team to fulfill His purpose. I am so blessed to be in this position in life. So blessed to have a husband who truly seeks God's will in his life and has a desire to see the "harvest" grow in the kingdom.

So off to Dallas we go...to stay in a hotel alone...wink wink! My sister is here taking care of my kids. They love her...she spoils them! Which I am so thankful for!

Somethings...I just don't understand!

There are somethings I just don't understand...today, my cousin Lori found out that her cancer has spread all over her body. It is in her bones and everywhere. They have told her 6 months to a year at this point. I don't get it sometimes Lord...forgive me in my weakness. I have seen God's miracles time and time again and we are calling on you to heal Lori. Give her kids comfort, peace and surround them Your loving arms.

Let me tell you how Lori responded to this news....and if you know Lori...it sounds just like her. She is our secretary at church and she brings life to the office!! When she told my sister (she and my sister are best friends along with being cousins) her prognosis she said...."I'm going to live until the Lord takes me." and if you know Lori...she will do just that...making everyone laugh on her way!

Keep her in your prayers and as needed I will let you know updates. You are all so precious to me that you pray for my cousin.
Blessings,
Steph

The next step...

Well...it's official! The announcement was made! We are starting phase 3 of the building! Yeah! What does this mean? It means no longer will moms have to walk upstairs to pick up little ones. They will be at ground floor! Which I think is fantastic! It also means all children birth thru 5th grade will be located in one building and that will make it so much easier to pick them up! Yeah! What's funny for me is...I will most likely just have one still in the children's area by then! WOW! That is crazy for me to think of! But what a blessing for all you moms to have all your kids in one area!!

And the really cool announcement....we are launching a new campus @ Stone Canyon school! The way this all come together is so amazing! We were in the process of praying about it and praying for a location...an organization that starts new churches came to us not knowing this was already on our hearts and said...Hey we would like for you to partner with us in starting a new campus and we will take care of the finances for the first 3 years! We were like...What? Really? Ok God that is cool!!! With this location we will be able to reach the other side of Owasso...Catoosa...Claremore and many more people for Christ in that community! Yeah God! This is just the beginning of many awesome things that God is doing! I have always wanted to be a part of launching a new campus!!!

So join us in celebrating God's blessings. All the Glory and Honor to Him! Can't wait to see what else He has in store for the future and I am so thankful He has asked me to be a part of it!
Like the song we sang yesterday..You are God of this city...your the Lord of these people and nation...You're the light in the darkness...there is no one like Our God...Greater things are yet to come...Greater things are still to be done in this City.....

I love watching God work! Amen!!

FIGHT NIGHT!

Our children's ministry host what's called Fight night every few months, Wednesday was our Fall one. FIGHT standing for Families In God Hanging Together. They have a skit each time and teach the kids a different virtue. This week the virtue was Individuality..."discovering who you were meant to be so you can make a difference". The skit goes along with the virtue. Our children's ministers...James and Aaron, are pretty stinkin funny and they are very creative! We are so blessed to have here @ FCC. My kids love them and they love going to children's church!
Here are a few pics from the night. Aaron is dressed up as Mr. Individuality..

He brought up John and Chas Beason up to play a game:

Bobby Reed taught us a bible story:

At the beginning we sing songs and a crew of kids and our worship team dance and sing...It's fun:

The kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes @ this one...this is my Daughter Brooke on the right with 2 of her best friends...Emma and Avery. Yes...they are the same age...funny the different sizes!!!

This is Lauren and her best friends Aubrey and Jessica...Lauren is a Hobo!

Here is Jaden with some of his Buds, he is a mummy!

This is Aaron's...our children's ministers little boy...smokin a sucker...he is such a cute kid!

And here is James...we just love him!

We will be changing FIGHT NIGHT to FX. It will be on Sunday mornings. As a church we recognize that families are busy and over scheduled so we try very hard to keep it simple!! Can't wait to see what FX will be like!
