God is love...Am I?

It seems like a reoccurring theme these days in every bible study and sermon I am listening too is...love one another. Yikes! I know it may come as a shock to you...ok...not to some of you...that loving others is hard on me! I mean...people can just annoy me and get on my nerves! I can be kinda a loner. I enjoy just sitting at home...watching TV...hanging with my family. Don't get me wrong...I get excited when we go places and hang out with friends...but when it comes down to it...I would rather just kick back at home. But I have also used that as an excuse to not go and do some of the things God has called me to do.

I John 5:3 says...This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not BURDENSOME. WOW! That really hit me...somedays I walk around burdened by what God has called me to do. I gripe, complain...sass him and just think...oh man don't ask me to love them. Are you kidding me God? Have you seen the way their kids act? How you heard how they talk? And I give him every excuse as to why I shouldn't or couldn't do it.

I am here to tell you...he has been working on me on this really BIG TIME!! In our BSF study we took a detour to 1 John this week and at first I was like...I wonder why we went there for a week? OH don't worry my fellow BSF ers it's because Stephanie needed to hear...
1 John 3:23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them.
I have read 1 John many times...but I needed a good swift kick in the booty about loving others and how it's a command of God! That's how the world will know Jesus...is by our love for them. I have been given the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish his will!! Amen!

Does loving others come easy for you?
Pray for me as I struggle thru this and walk in obedience.
John 2:6
Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

  1. OUCH! :) need I say more? LOL I guess when you think about it those that we "feel" are a burden are probably the ones that are hurting the most or need our love the most! Seeing them through the Eyes of Christ is what I shared about today....then in conversation with Brian this morning and he was sharing about a man who always sends out very degrading emails....I said "Honey, clearly he is not a happy man, try praying for him." HA ~ I can encourage others to do this but will I do the same? hmmmm

Love ya! I have a surprise for you :)

  3. The one person I need to be more loving to ~ is my husband. I needed to read this this morning!
When life is crazy and busy and things aren't always as "bright and cheery" as I'd like them to be, the one to gets skipped over is my husband. I don't know why, but it's just the way it happens. He's the one who gets the bad end of the "blow ups" and the "frustrations." Often times I'm not loving to him. I just expect him to be there for me no matter how I treat him back. NOT COOL.
"love one another" and especially the ones who mean the most, and then it's the hardest. Ya know? And not just merely "love" or say you love, but show love. Demonstrate love. In words and actions.
