Just wanted to update you on how things went today...one of the best decisions we have ever made. He was able to point out something we need to work on and some things we have forgotten.
When you are first dating you want to do whatever you can to make that person like you and impress them or whatever makes them happy...you even might change some things about yourself. But at some point you switch and the next thing you know you are trying to change them, please them and stop meeting their needs....and you have forgotten your first love...
"Making Love"...well most of you are thinking sex right now...Nope! It's about making your love grow. He wants us to take 30 minutes after the kids to go to bed...no tv...no computer...nothing....just talking for the next week (which we usually do this...but we are holding a computer or watching TV) . Remembering what it was like when we were dating and all we did was sit and talk and get to know each other. Now he did say...if that leads to Sex...than Yeah. Of course Matt was singing an Amen on that! LOL! Sorry mom or either of my mom in laws if you are reading this...:)
Here is the verse he used and I never have thought of it in light of marriage...
Revelations 2: 3-5
3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. 5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
Basically saying...You have forgotten your first love...when you first fell in love (after 16 years...you can kinda forget) ...Remember how you felt and how amazing your desire for each other and how you have fallen from that...repent and remember why you fell in love with each other.
I am hoping that if I share a few things we learn..it will help atleast one of you also in your marriage. We discovered many other things today too that are going to help us. We also realized how we have a great foundation to build on. We will go every week for awhile and I am so glad we took the step of faith and went!
You guys stay warm...it's super uper cold in Oklahoma!! And we started our Couch Potato to 5k challenge today...I think we will have fun doing it. Have MORE Fun...that's one of my goals...and you know what...he addressed that today...do you have fun together as a couple?
Blessings and thanks for your prayers today.
